Production Design Assistant, December 2023

I assisted the production design team for a photoshoot for a film portfolio. It involved discussing ideas with the head of the team and producer to create back drops for each concept. Although the role was short, it was a great opportunity for me to explore this particular field and overlook the process of a photoshoot.

Set Dresser/PA, "Nice While it Lasted," January 2024

Nice While it Lasted is a short film directed by Matthew Godfrey from York University. I joined the project as crew and worked as an art PA as well as a regular PA. The initial tasks I undertook were setting up the set for 1 of 2 scenes. This included lifting and moving furniture and placing extra props as part of mise-en-scene to create a background to suit the narrative.

After that job was done, I worked on set as a regular PA to assist if needed. For instance, I got the chance to help out with sound recording and be a boom operator for a short time of the film.

Set Dresser/PA, "After Sunday," January - February 2024

After Sunday is a short film directed by Omolola Ajao and is a about a closeted young African-Canadian women that returns to her religious community to understand her distorted memories from the past. This project is a small budget production funded by the Canada Arts Council.

I joined the project as crew and worked as an art PA. The initial tasks I undertook were setting up one of the locations used for the production of the film. This included lifting and moving furniture and placing extra props as part of mise-en-scene to create a background to suit the narrative.

The movie premiered as a part of the Short Cuts Programme at TIFF 2024.

Production Designer, "Now You See Me," February 2024

Now You See Me is a short film directed by Grace Noua. This is the first set where I was a PD and so my responsibilities were different, compared to the previous works I took part in. I was in charge of creating every scene and to ensure it looked right I communicated with the cinematographer and monitored the screen as well as took in opinions of other crew members on set. Overall this was a great learning experience for me and I was able to connect with a lot of creative people.

Production Designer, “Pide Un Deseo,” March 2024

Pide Un Deseo is a short film directed by Mauricio Abrego that follows the story of a closeted boy and his fear of his pressuring father. In comparison to the previous sets, this set was by far the only one that asked for an quick and creative thinking. I worked as a team and communicated with the director and director of photography to ensure the set looked good monitor and emoted the correct emotion to support the scene. I also contributed with lighting team and discussed ideas that helped build the scene’s aesthetic value.
